Lynda G. Stephens- A Nurse Who Touched Many
Mrs. Lynda Stephens, 59 of Henderson passed away after a lengthy illness on March 17, 2014 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home and be conducted by Dr. David Higgs and Rev. Bill Tisdale.
Lynda was born December 1, 1954 in Henderson, Texas to Billy D. and Jo Dell Parker. Lynda married Tommy Stephens at Calvary Baptist Church on August 4, 1973. Mrs. Stephens graduated from TJC and the Texas Eastern School of Nursing in 1976. She was a very caring and loving person who never met strangers. She always cared for her patients as if they were her own family. She will be extremely missed by all who knew her and in some way she touched many lives. Most of all she was a very giving person and exemplified the true meaning of the nursing spirit.
She was preceded in death by her father: Former Henderson Fire Chief Billy D. Parker, father-in-law Foy Stephens, Grandfathers Artie Parker and Roy Cade whom she called (Pop), Great Aunts Mrs. Ollie Dickenson and Wilbur Stokley, and beloved sister-in-law Camellia Parker.
She leaves behind her beloved husband: Tommy Stephens, mother: Jo Dell Parker, one daughter Courtney Jones and son-in-law Victor Jones of Henderson. One son Matthew Stephens and wife Megan of Abilene, mother-in-law Faye Stephens, two brothers Billy Bob and Danny Parker, brothers-in-law and wives: David and Maria Stephens, Jerry and Madeline Stephens. Beloved Uncle and Aunt, Bobby Parker and wife Esther of Henderson. Four very special grandchildren, Shelby and Garrett Jones and Patrick and Parker Stephens. Numerous nieces and nephews: Stephanie and husband Tod Ashley, Carrie and husband Eric of Hewitt, Texas and Haley Parker of Henderson, Special friend Mary D. Street and a host of numerous family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, she asks memorials be made to American Diabetes Association in honor of all our loved ones we have lost.
