Lydia G. Braun
Celebrating her life on earth and now in heaven with her Lord, the funeral services for Lydia Braun, 88, of Longview will be held at 11am, Monday, March 3, 2008 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Phil Fenton officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Mausoleum under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Braun passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in Longview.
She was born October 9, 1919 in Roscoe, Texas, to Ben and Hattie Hillmer Mueller. It was there she met and married Reverend Leon D. Braun when he came to serve as pastor of Salem Lutheran Church. She had lived in Longview since 1960 moving here from McGregor, Texas with her husband when he became Pastor of First Lutheran Church. While living in Longview she was a floral designer at Scott's Flower Shop for 17 years and also taught a floral design class at Kilgore College. During her time at First Lutheran and the other 3 Lutheran churches of Roscoe, Winters and McGregor where her husband served as pastor, she tirelessly gave of her time to the churches' altar guilds, but especially in Longview preparing for Communion and designing banners for the sanctuary and flowers for the altar. She devoted her life to God, family and friends.
She is survived by many loving family members, including her children, Patricia and husband Bob Mueller of Longview, Arlin Braun and wife Sara of Hallsville, Janell and husband Dr. Arlet Dunsworth of Dallas; grandchildren, Monica Gabriel and husband Steve, Jill Pyle and husband William, Daniel Dunsworth and wife Amy, Adam Dunsworth and fiancée Kerri Bush, Erin Crafton and husband Travis, and Heather Braun; great grandchildren, Colton and Bailey Gabriel, Landon, Mallory and Lauren Pyle, Garrett and Bryce Dunsworth; sister, Clara McPherson of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Leon D. Braun, a sister, Elnora Barber, and a brother, Lester Mueller.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Sunday March 2, 2008 from 5-7pm.
