Memorial services for Lycette Newsom, 60, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Hal Luna officiating. She passed away tragiclly August 21, 2010 in Longview as a result of a hit and run.
Lycette was born March 30, 1950 in Redding, CA to Paul and Dohtee Melton Hein and had been a resident of Longview since 1974.
Lycette found the love of her life at age 14, when she began caring for the elderly in her grandmothers nursing home. She received her R. N. Degree at Collin Memorial Hospital in McKinney, TX. She loved and cared not only for the elderly, but her community, friends, animals, and most of all her family.
There were no bounderies in her appreciation for nature and all of God?s gifts. Even though disability forced her into early retirement, she continued pursuing her passion for caring for others. Although her life ended abruptly, her love will carry forth throughout eternity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her precious daughter, Candy Kannaird.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Roxxann Newsom of Longview and Jerry Paul Larson and Matthew Larson both of Union Grove; grandchildren, Noah Larson, Tommy Kannaird, III, Samantha Kannaird and Mason Kannaird; brother, Mitch Luna of Longview; sisters, Nikki Helms of Houston, and Paula Hoffman and Janice Risley both of Corning, CA;
