Ludie Smith's Obituary
A Celebration of Life for Ludie Dorsey Smith, 90, of Henderson, will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, December 12, 2014. Reverend Sandi Willsie will officiate the graveside service to be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Born on July 11, 1924, to Corney Dorsey and Kate Bird Young, Mrs. Smith was the youngest of eleven children. As a lifelong member of the Trinity Baptist Church, Mrs. Smith delighted in the Lord and served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years. When she was not preparing for Sunday School, Mrs. Smith enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family.
Mrs. Smith passed away in her home of 65 years on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 48 years, John L. Smith, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carolyn Willsie of Henderson, granddaughter Mollie O’Dell of Washington, D.C., granddaughter Katie Willsie of Longview, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lifelong friends of the family will serve as the pallbearers. The family expresses their deep gratitude to Bill Godsey, James Campbell, Bobby Moore, Perry Reed, Butch Carmack, and Daniel Cabrera for their kindness and compassion.
The family will receive friends at their home (591 CR 212 E. Henderson, TX) from 11:00am-2:00pm on Friday prior to the graveside service.
