Lucille Alyne Hiett's Obituary
Lucille Alyne Hiett of Longview,Texas passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017. She was born November 19, 1925 to Ernest and Minnie Wendeborn Scharff in Gunter, Texas the youngest of 7 siblings. As a child during the Depression the family moved to Longview where she attended and graduated from Judson Grove High in 1942. She married her high school sweetheart Edd Hiett in 1946 after his return from World War Two and they became members of the First Christian Church that same year. She retired after many years at the Gregg County Tax office, First Federal Savings and finally the Gregg County Appraisal District. As a teenager during World War Two she worked for the B.F. Goodrich store and later for the Draft Board during the Korean War. Known as a hard worker who did things the right way, she could always be counted on to get the job done and done well, whatever it may be. A fantastic cook, her fried chicken will never be equaled, she loved fishing and working in her yard doing so well into her 80s. Devoted to family and faith she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who cherished her German roots loving and living life to its fullest. A shining example of The Greatest Generation.
Mrs. Hiett was preceded in death by her husband Edd in 2009, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by 2 sons David and Mark, 2 grand children, 4 great-grand children and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the First Christian Church of Longview.
A graveside service will be held 10 AM Saturday, June 3 at Memory Park in Longview.
