Lucille Barrow's Obituary
Funeral services for Lucille Barrow, 98, of Longview will be 2 PM Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Johnson and Scott Teague officiating. Burial will be a t Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7 until 8 pm.
Lucille died Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
She was born February 24, 1915 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana near the town of Haynesville. Her mother died when she was two years old and she was reared by her father and grandparents. After graduating from Haynesville High School, she met and married Odis Barrow and they moved to Tenneryville where she worked as a hair dresser in the Spring Hill area until her husband’s discharge from the U. S. Navy. They moved into Longview and in 1946, she became the co-owner of Barrow’s Grocery and Market which operated in several locations until Odis’s death in 1968. She later worked for the Army-Navy Store and for Jim’s Food Store.
Lucille was a charter member of the Mobberly Church of Christ and was currently a member of The Longview Church of Christ. She was a homemaker, a crochet artist and an accomplished quilt maker.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, W. O. “Bill” and Dolores Barrow of Longview; granddaughter and husband, Kristi and David McDonald of Arlington, TX; great-grandchildren, Liam and Keelan McDonald of Arlington, and a step-sister, Lois Brown of Eldorado, Arkansas and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
