Louise Henderson Tilley's Obituary
LOUISE HENDERSON TILLEY
On March 26, 2010 the Angels sang and welcomed our precious Lou Tilley into her heavenly Father's Home where she joined once again her cherished husband, Roy, and her beautiful, beloved daughter, Sherry.
Addie Louise Henderson Tilley was born on July 12, 1927 to Kyle Reed Henderson and Eula Carolina Davis in Santa Ana, Texas. The family moved to Overton, Texas in the 1930's where Lou attended Overton schools. She was a member of the Overton High School band and graduated in 1945.
Lou and her sweetheart, Roy Tilley, married in June 1945 after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army and were inseparable for 64 years. She graduated from beauty school in Tyler, Texas, and Lou and Roy moved to Longview, Texas. She worked for many years at the Artistic Beauty Salon and managed the Tropicana Apartments while Roy worked at Texas Eastman.
Lou was a loving and supportive Mother and enjoyed every aspect of Sherry's life while attending her school activities at Foster Jr. High and Longview High School. Lou was happiest when Sherry entertained her friends on most weekends and when she, Roy and Sherry traveled and were active members of Mobberly Avenue Baptist Church. Lou loved to cook and bake and felt like she was in heaven with a slice of chocolate pie, chocolate cake or a chocolate chip cookie and a hot cup of coffee.
Lou was a loving and devoted caregiver for her beloved Roy and had an intensely close relationship with her Lord Jesus. When she was unable to assist in care-giving for her sisters and sister-in-law in Summer Meadows, Lou could always be depended upon to pray for them. She loved angels and crosses and was so happy to receive them as gifts.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Reed and Eula Henderson; husband, Roy Tilley; daughter Sherry Tilley Carlton; sisters Mildred Crim Compton and Christine Villyard; and brother James Henderson.
Survivors include her beloved sister, Imagene Daniel, son-in-law, Jack Carlton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Doris Tilley; nephews and their wives, William and Gene Villyard of Longview and Dwain and Sherry Villyard of Tyler; Mike and Cheryl Henderson of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Jim and Jodi Henderson of Melissa, Texas. Her nieces and their husbands include Diane and Merritt Johnson; Dee and Charles Tullis; and Lesa and Mark Eubank all of Longview; and Theresa and Jimmy Hodges of Red Rock. Last but not least, many great-nieces and great-nephews. Lou was surrounded with love and support from her large family and extended family and friends, and special friend, Mabel Joiner.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. James Sawyer, nurse Jenna, GSMC-ICU nursing staff, Summer Meadows Rehab & Long-term Care staff, Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House staff and a special thanks to Kay Johnson LVN & special friend, Judy Murphy, Loretta Spear, Hurtis Blalock, Velma Edwards, Peggy Nelson and Ken Williams for their professional and loving care. The family particularly appreciates the prayer support and Christian love given to Lou by Florence Hadley.
The Service will be at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road with Reverend Bill Arden; Reverend David Badders, Beacon Hospice Chaplain; officiating. The Family Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. Prior to the Service. Burial will be in Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Pallbearers will be Lou's late husband's former co-workers from Texas Eastman: Leon Carnes, Don Brooks, Stephen Belflower, Bill Hardaway, Wayne Taylor, and Don Guess.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, 5016 Gilmer Road, Longview, TX, 75604.
