Louise Dodson
Funeral services for Louise Dodson, 90, of Longview will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Craig Evers officiating. Interment will follow in Simpsonville Cemetery in Upshur County. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dodson was born April 2, 1923, in Crandall, TX to Dewey and Lavina Cooper. She was a longtime resident of the Longview area. She was a homemaker and retired from the Ore City Independent School District where she worked in the cafeteria. Mrs. Dodson was a longtime Sunday School Teacher at Cedar Springs Baptist Church in Ore City and currently a member of Jay Valley Baptist Church of Longview.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James R. Dodson; brothers, Pat, Jack and Buster Cooper; and her sister, Helen Minton.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and A. J. Smelley of Longview; sisters, Audene Mitchell and Robin Poarch; grandchildren, Beverly and Keith Harkness of Grand Prairie, Wendy and Joel Carrington of Arlington, Hank Winn and fiancé, Stacey Newman of Longview, Andy and Sharon Smelley of Longview and Mandy Ellsworth of Longview; great grandchildren, Ryan Harkness, Carson and Conner Carrington, Will Ellsworth, Janna, Tennie, Jake and Tom Smelley; and special friend, Mary Ellen Pierson of Ore City.
