Louia “L.A.” Oney
Funeral services for Louia “L.A.” Oney, 90, of Harleton, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at Smyrna United Methodist Church, Harleton with Dr. Jerry Faught officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Harleton under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He passed away Tuesday, November 19, in a Marshall hospital.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Oney was born June 3, 1923 in Harleton to A. R. and Cassie Oney. He was raised in Harleton and from 1953 until 1975 he was a resident of Longview. He then moved back to Harleton. He was a retired iron worker, and a member of the AF of L CIO and the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Worker. He was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church and a WWII veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise Oney; brothers, Ross Oney and Henry Oney; and his sister, Lura Oney Dickinson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Sam L. Oney and wife Janet of Harleton; grandchildren, Justin Posey, Dave Matthews, Sara Matthews and Ben Evans.
