Loretta Spaeth's Obituary
Mass of Christian burial for Loretta Rohmer Spaeth, 98, of Longview will be celebrated
at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the
Rev. Mark C. Kusmirek, Pastor, as celebrant. Mrs. Spaeth’s grandchildren will be
pallbearers. Internment will follow in the Garden of Crucifixion at Rosewood Park in
Longview. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at
Rader Funeral Home.
Mrs. Spaeth passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016, surrounded by her loving
family.
Loretta Rohmer Spaeth was born on March 12, 1917 on the family farm in Muenster,
Texas. On January 10, 1946 she married Frank Joseph Spaeth. They moved
numerous times with his job in the oil industry living in Wichita Falls, Corpus Christi and
resided in Longview for the last 54 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church, Catholic Daughter Court #1339, Our Lady’s Guild, and the Bishop’s Guild
since its inception in 1972. In 1988 she was invested as a Lady in the Equestrian
Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
Preceding her in death was her husband,Joe, of 56 years; her parents John and Mary
Rohmer; brothers Joseph, Lawrence, Emil, Tony, Victor, Johnny, and Maurus Rohmer;
sisters Ida Rohmer and Sr. Fidelis Rohmer, OSB; in-laws Florence Rohmer, Mary and
Lee Havercamp, Agnes and Joe Kneupper, Francis Spaeth, Tillie and Andrew
Schoech, Polly and Wilfred Reiter, Henry Spaeth, Theresa Mae and Mark Kuta and
Walter Barry.
She is survived by a daughter Linda Robinett of Longview, sons Everett and wife
Becky and Alan Spaeth of Dallas; sisters Dorothy Wright of Irving, Sr. Romana
Rohmer, OSB of Jonesboro, Arkansas, in-laws Agnes Rohmer, Marjorie Rohmer, and
Pat Rohmer of Muenster, Texas; Mickey Spaeth of Valley View, Arthur and Evelyn
Felderhoff of Muenster and Georgia Barry of Dallas; six grandchildren and their
spouses, Vanessa and Bryan Bednarz, Donald and Amanda Robinett, Jennifer and
Ryan McLaughlin, Michael and Megan Spaeth, Erika and Kevin Tuff, and Daniel and
Jessica Spaeth; seven great-grandchildren, Joseph and Jordan Hill, Cora and Theo
McLaughlin, Cooper, Ellie and Camden Spaeth and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Spaeth was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School Endowment Fund, 2108
