Born on November 7, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Samuel Anthony and Angeline Peritore Ross, Loret James Ross Sr. graced the world with his presence, filling it with his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love. It is with heavy hearts that we announce his peaceful passing on December 22, 2023, at the age of 82, in his cherished Longview, Texas home.
Loret led a life defined by compassion, celebration, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. As a devoted husband to his beloved wife Kathaleen Ross, he was the anchor of their journey, providing love, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout their cherished years together. Their path of love first embarked in Plain Dealing, Louisiana at The Dogwood Festival, where Kathaleen was serving as The Dogwood Festival Princess. Loret was quoted many times that when he saw this captivating woman with her beautiful red hair he told his brother-in-law Grady, “I’m going to marry that girl!” He did just that on September 7, 1963. They spent 60 wonderful years together before his passing.
Loret graduated high school from Fair Park in Shreveport before his passion for education led him to pursue and obtain a bachelor’s degree, in Microbiology from Louisiana Tech, further illuminating his path towards success. He also attended Northwestern University where he worked on his master’s degree. Loret's professional career as a Pharmaceutical Representative showcased his dedication and noteworthy contributions to the field, where he made an indelible mark in the industry for 50 years. Loret was one of just a few to become a Certified Medical Representative and received many honors throughout his career. Prior to his retirement, he would be honored with Leadership Awards, including the Pfizer Pinnacle Award and Pfizer Vice President Cabinet-Institutional Sales. He served for many years on the Bedford Texas City Council and as Mayor Tem. He was a mentor to countless people in his life and honored and loved by all that knew him.
Loret's endearing spirit extended far beyond his professional accomplishments. Warmhearted and joyful, he had an innate ability to touch the lives of those he encountered, leaving them feeling uplifted and inspired. His presence at family gatherings and friendly gatherings alike was where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and memories were built that will forever live within our hearts.
