Lorene Lindsay Carpenter's Obituary
Lorene Lindsay Carpenter was born on July 8, 1939, to parents J.W. and Katie Wisdom in Marshall, TX. Lorene passed away on February 25, 2025. She grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1957.
Lorene married Fred Lindsay, the love of her life, on December 19, 1956. They celebrated 25 wonderful years together before his passing on May 18, 1982. In 1987, Lorene married JJ Carpenter. They enjoyed traveling the country together, and he loved all of Lorene's grandchildren as if they were his own. He passed away in August 2002.
Lorene is survived by her daughter, Trudy Haywood, and her husband Eddie; her sons, Dennis Lindsay and his wife Cindy, Huff Lindsay and his wife Betsy, and Alan Lindsay and his wife Jo Ann; and one bonus son, John Carpenter, and his wife Laura, of Dardanelle, Arkansas. She leaves behind a legacy of 12 grandchildren: Freddie Lindsay (Maria), Brian Lindsay, Michelle Graugnard, Lindsay Upson (Matt), Janie Gilbert (Blake), Alex Haywood, Amy Fogle (Zack), Alan Lindsay, Emma Lindsay, Claton Lindsay, Christopher Lindsay, and James Michael Konar, as well as 16 great-grandchildren.
Lorene is also survived by her two sisters, Bettie Cagle and Patsy Chastain (Alan), and a special group of ladies who met every Thursday for lunch, whom she considered her chosen sisters. Melba Woods was her very best friend since Kindergarten.
Lorene worked for Garrett Memorial and served as a "Pink Lady" at Marshall Hospital for many years. Special thanks to AccentCare Hospice for their compassionate care during Lorene's final days.
Funeral services for Lorene will be held at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview on Saturday, March 1 at 10 am with the burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held the night before at the Funeral Home between 6 and 8 pm.
