Lonnie Ocha Nix's Obituary
Lonnie “Ocha" Nix was born on Oct 8, 1954 to Horce and Jeffie Nix in Gilmer, Texas. Ocha passed away January 20, 2018. He was 63 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents Horace and Jeffie Nix. Survived by his loving wife of 28 years Jeanne and his children Amber Heimerl and husband DJ of Kimberly, Wisconsin; Sarah Stokeld and husband Jeremy of Houston; Carolyn Price and husband Trey of The Woodlands; Brother Mark Nix of Longview and Sister Laura Scritchfield of Tyler. Grandchildren Kayla Parvin, Samantha Ariola, Ann Elise and David Stokeld, Cason, Marshall and Georgia Price and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ocha was a member of the Longview High School Class of 1973. He proudly served in the United States Marie Corps from 1975-1979 and was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant E-5 in under three years. Ocha was employed by Baxter Clean Care in Longview.
Ocha was a devoted husband, caring father and loyal friend. Over the years, Ocha enjoyed fishing, traveling with his family, country music, oil painting, gardening and a great cup of coffee. He was a loving grandfather whose favorite pastimes included writing super hero stories for his grandkids to read, trips to the Caldwell Zoo and being his grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. He never knew a stranger and his kindness, silly jokes and gentle spirit will be immensely missed.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to in support of the Caldwell Zoo. P.O. Box 4785 Tyler, TX 75712. A memorial service will be held Wednesday January 24th at 12:00PM at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
