Thresa graduated from high school in El Dorado, Arkansas in 1941. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Longview, where she went on to graduate from BMI. During WWII, she worked as a secretary in various industries that supported the war effort, including the military hospital where Le Tourneau University now stands.
Many friends know her as the ?PTA lady.? She was always very involved with her children?s activities and was a local leader in the PTA for many years.
Since becoming a Christian as a child, serving in the church has been her heart?s desire. Thresa was instrumental in the growth of the WMU at First Baptist New Braunfels, and continued this in El Dorado, Arkansas, and then at Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview. In every church she joined, Thresa was a leader in the nursery departments. She was lovingly known to many children as ?Mama T.?
Thresa was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ed Temple in 1989. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Thresa Ann and Dr. Joe Kuehler of New Braunfels, TX, Susan and Lonnie Green of Longview, Eddie and Cynthia Temple of New Braunfels, Amy and Tom Harriss of Longview, and David Alan Temple of Jefferson; grandchildren, Ken and Lisa Kuehler, Katherine and Matt Walters, Kris and Jaime Kuehler, Whitnee Temple, Jordan Temple, Lane Harriss, and David Harriss; great grandchildren, Bayden Kuehler, Jackson Walters, and Annagrace Walters.
