Lois Marie Sonnier Landry
Lois Marie Sonnier Landry was born February 20, 1934 in Delcambre, Louisiana. Mrs. Landry passed away on October 20, 2010 at Christus Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana following complications due to colon surgery.
Lois was from Erath and Abbeville, Louisiana in her youth and was once a Mardi Gras Queen in Abbeville. She married James Eric Landry December 18, 1954 at St. John?s Cathedral in Lafayette, Louisiana. They later made their home in Longview and were members of St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Lois was a secretary for Axelson of Longview before their children were adopted. Lois and Eric celebrated 50 years of marriage together with family and friends in 2004.
Lois was a charter member of the Longview Regional Hospital Auxiliary, charter member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and charter member and historian of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Bridget. Lois and Eric were actively involved with Knights of Columbus family activities and were awarded family of the year twice by the council. Lois shared her undivided time and talent by planning and decorating for numerous KC group activities, including caterings, summer camp for deaf children and Christmas parties.
Mrs. Landry was preceded in death by her father Ambrose Sonnier and mother Redeste Suire Sonnier; brothers, Ludren Sonnier, Kirby Sonnier, Dave Sonnier and Patrick Landry; and her beloved son Troy Anthony Landry.
Lois is survived by her sister Linda Landry Trahan and brother Reed Landry and by her most faithful and devoted Knight in shining armor husband of 55 years, Eric Landry. She is also survived by her daughter Cammie Landry Hadley and husband William Dwight Hadley, Jr. and her beloved granddaughter Lacie Camille Hadley, whom she called her ?angel baby? from God.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Longview with Reverend Gavin N. Vaverek officiating. A Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Court of St. Bridget Catholic Daughters of St. Mary?s Catholic Church or to St. Mary?s School, 2108 Ridgewood Dr., Longview, TX 75605.
