L. J. Fite
Graveside services for L. J. Fite , 90, of Longview will be 10:30 am Monday at Rosewood Park Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Turner officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Mr. Fite died Thursday afternoon at a local nursing center.
L. J. was born June 2, 1916 at Hughes Springs, Texas to John Washington and Leota Coulter Fite. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1940 from East Texas State Teachers College and later earned a Master of Education Degree from Trinity University in San Antonio. During WW II, he served with the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist?s mate 3rd class. For many years, L. J. was a well-known agent for the Southland Life Heart of Gold Insurance Company. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Longview and the Clyde Hall Sunday School Class, a member of the Longview Masonic Lodge #404 and the Scottish Rite Shrine, the Downtown Longview Rotary Club and the Good Shepherd Hospital Auxilaiary.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Graham Fite; daughter, Barbara Ann Fite; daughter and son-in-law, Judy Kay and John David Shiver; grandson and wife, John David Shiver, Jr. and Sharon Kay; granddaughter and husband, Julie Ann Latham and Daniel; great grandchildren: Taylor Ann Shiver and Ashley Kate Shiver and Natalie Grace Latham and Sabrina Renee Latham; sister, Modelle Bossi; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Sunday afternoon 2:00 pm to 4 pm.
