Linda Sue Kaplan's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Bollig Kaplan, a remarkable woman of strong faith and unwavering love. After bravely fighting cancer, she lost her battle and was called home to Heaven on November 6, 2023.
Linda Bollig Kaplan was born on October 29, 1948, in Okmulgee, OK to Henry Bollig and Helen Louise Bollig, nee Cosgrove. She graduated high school in Borger, Texas where she met and married her husband, Larry. They were married on January 28, 1968.
Linda went back to college when her three children reached school age and received a degree in accounting. She practiced as a CPA for over 30 years. Quilting was her favorite hobby, and she met many treasured friends through this. She enjoyed the fun of playing Canasta, the solace of fishing, and the joy of exploring new places. Her travels were a testament to her adventurous spirit, and her husband of 55 years was her cherished companion in all of life’s adventures. As a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, it was the simple joys of spending time with family that brought her the greatest happiness.
Linda spoke often of her excitement to meet her Lord and Savior. Her unwavering faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her every action and inspiring her to spread His love to all she encountered. She was a living example of Christ’s teachings, exemplifying love, forgiveness, and acceptance. Her faith was not just a personal conviction but a source of strength and inspiration for her community. She touched many hearts with her commitment to her church and her dedication to ministry, and her memory lives on in all who knew her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jerry, one sister, Dolores and one grandchild, Rebecca. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Larry, three daughters, Leslie (Rob) Wallin, Deanne (Ryan) Hall, and Kristy (Ryan) Herrman, eight grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon) Green, Brittany Wallin, Blake (Alexis) Wallin, Mikayla Wallin, Madison Hall, Meagan Hall, Miles Herrman, and Kylie Herrman, and four great grandchildren, Everly Green, Beckett Green, Kennedy Wallin, and Rhett Wallin, and brother Randy (Laurie) Bollig.
In lieu of flowers, she requested that you consider making donations to Graciously Broken or House of Hope, organizations that were near and dear to her heart, or your local women’s shelter.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on November 10, 2023, at 11am at First Lutheran Church of Longview, where friends and family will gather to remember, honor, and celebrate her remarkable journey. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior at the church.
