Linda Janice Ray's Obituary
Services for Linda Janice Ray will be held at 10AM Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Greggton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Nacogdoches, TX under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9-10 AM at Greggton First Baptist Church.
Linda Janice Spradley Ray was born on May 2, 1940 in Nacogdoches, TX to Tucker and Priscilla Spradley. Linda taught Home Economics at Garrison High School and Pine Tree High School for 39 years. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Masters Degree in Education in 1962 where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Pine Burrs/Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of Greggton First Baptist Church and Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
Linda is survived by her husband Rex Ray, two daughters Robin Ray Carlton and Randee Ray both of Austin, grandsons Chase and Chandler Carlton, sister in-laws Othal Turner, Dollie Riggs and husband Buster of Texarkana and Carroll Spradley of Nacogdoches and numerous neices and nephews. The Family wishes to thank Dr. Margaret Schottstaedt & the staff of Beacon Hospice for their care, love and support. Pall Bearers will be James Phillips, Donald Knight, Glenn Hughes, Buddy Wooley, Bob Friday and Rick Dowdle.
Linda was preceded in death by her son Ryan Lee Ray; her parents Tucker and Pricilla Spradley; and her brothers, Tucker Randall Spradley and Steven Wayne Spradley
Family requests memorials be made to Beacon Hospice of Longview, Margaret's House and the ULF, ulf.org. Family will receive friends from 9-10 am Tuesday December 27, 2011 at Greggton First Baptist Church.
