Linda Gayle Cooper's Obituary
Native born Longview business woman and resident Linda Gayle Cooper - (Coop) as she was known to many, died October 22, 2015 at age 64. Linda was part owner of the East Texas family optical company, Cooper Optical in downtown Longview.
For over 45 years her lifelong passion and love was optics and to give her customers the highest level of care. Her out-going personality and highly trained talents made her a trusted favorite with her clients. Linda became part owner of Cooper Optical in 2001 after the death of her father, John E. Cooper. She served as co-owner with her mother Betty Jo Cooper until her death.
She was certified by the American Board of Optics, served on the board for the Abused Women’s Shelter and was a current board member of East Texans Against Lawsuit Abuse.
Linda had a great love of the outdoors - including camping, baseball, tennis, boating and her beloved lake-house. No one loved a joke more than Linda and her infectious laugh and wide smile will make her greatly missed. She was a hometown girl having graduated from Longview High School in 1969 and later going on to Kilgore College.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at the Summit Club, Friday, 13th of November from 6-8.
She was preceded in death by her father, John E. Cooper, uncles - James Cooper of Longview, Ray Cooper of Boulder, Colorado, O.T. Cooper of Longview and aunt Mildred Cooper of Longview.
Survivors include her mother Betty Jo Cooper of Longview, Aunt Betty Cooper, Longview and host of cousins.
Linda often referred the girls of Cooper Optical Company as her “Dream Team”. The family would like extend a special thanks to the “Dream Team” of Cooper Optical for their love, support and hard work along with her many friends, clients and medical staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital or the charity of their choice.
