Lillian Sutton's Obituary
Lillian Hickman Sutton, our dear mother, woke up early Friday morning, and was called to her home in heaven. She joins her parents Charlie S. Hickman and Mertie Cassel Hickman and her husband Barney M. Sutton who preceded her. Also preceding her in death are siblings, Dorothy Hickman Klar and Fred C. Hickman. She is survived by daughter Linda Nelson and husband Tom of Longview; daughter Rhonda Canales and husband Paul of San Antonio; and son Barney L. Sutton of Kilgore. Her grandchildren are Katie Nelson Nichols and husband Andy of Longview, Cameron Canales and Carson Canales of San Antonio and Skye Sutton of Tyler and great-grandson, Peyton Nichols of Longview. She is also survived by her sister, Mary B. Peterson and brother, Charles E. Hickman, a number of nephews and nieces, and a special lifetime neighbor and friend, Sue Malone.
Celebration of life service for Mrs. Sutton will be held at Mobberly Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 5th, 2010 at 3 PM followed by a graveside ceremony at Grace Hill Cemetery. Family visitation will on Monday January 4th, 2010 from 5 - 7pm at Rader Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sutton was a lifelong member of Mobberly Baptist Church. She was active in the children?s ministry as a nursery worker and Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. She loved her work with children and enjoyed her gardening activities. She was an active member of the Iris Garden Club and had been a master flower judge.
Mrs. Sutton was born on February 2, 1921 in Shelby County Texas. She attended school in Tenaha, Texas and moved to Longview with her family upon graduation from high school and lived there for the remainder of her life.
