Lillian Marjorie Parker's Obituary
Lillian Marjorie Parker went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 29, 2011. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Parker was born on May 16, 1922 to Audice and Lera Metcalf in Shelbyville, Texas. After her mother's death in 1924, she was raised by foster parents Anton and Pauline Partin.
Mrs. Parker attended school in Shelbyville, TX and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1940. She married Jessie H. Parker in 1940 and they had three children. The family moved to Longview in 1953.
Mrs. Parker was a devout Christian and a faithful member of her church. She loved to travel and play dominos with friends. She worked 29 years for Sears retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by an infant son, Travis Parker; her brother, Jerry Metcalf; her foster brother, Jack Partin; a grandson, Gary VanBemden, her husband, her parents and foster parents.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Brenda and UrbanesVanBemden of Colorado Springs, CO; her son and wife, Jimmy and Romelle Parker of Austin, TX; her sister, LaPearle Pappas of Tulsa, OK; her foster sisters, Barbara Blankenship and Dorothy Adams, three grandsons and their wives; four great grandsons; three great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, 5016 Gilmer Road Longview, Texas 75604, or to Calvary Baptist Church, 4715 Tenneryville Rd Longview, Texas 75604.
