Lillian Copeland
Lillian Copeland passed away at Longview Regional Medical Center at 8:35 AM on Monday, October 25, 2004. She died in the care of Greater Hospice of Texas after a short battle with cancer.
Lillian was born in Childress, Texas, on January, 26, 1914, to William and Maggie Hill. She was raised in Terry County near Brownfield, TX, and graduated from Childress High School. She married Kenneth Lee Copeland on April 1, 1939, and they moved to Amarillo, TX, where they lived for 47 years until his death in February 1986. Lillian moved to Longview in 1988, where she was a faithful member of the Longview Church of Christ. She was a longtime member of the Central Church of Christ in Amarillo.
She was a dedicated employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 42 years. She served as Assistant Chief Operator, and she was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers of America.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Glenda Copeland Grimes of Longview; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Lena Hill of New Orleans; grandchildren, Christy Milton and husband Scott of Amarillo, Julie Bottcher and husband Chris of Birmingham, Alabama, and Catharine Polsky and husband Bruce of New York, New York; great grandchildren, Amelia, Audrey, and Ashlyn Milton, Matthew Bottcher and Sylvie Polsky; nieces, Lucille Fowler and Marie Wilson both of Longview, Ellen Bearden and husband Homer of Brownfield, TX., and Velda Wychoff and husband Myron of Carmel Valley, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, October 28, at the Longview Church of Christ with Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, at 12:00 Noon Friday, Oct 29. The family will be receiving visitors from 5 to 7 Wednesday evening, October 27 at Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
