Lillian Bass' Obituary
Lillian Steiner Bass, age 85 of Longview, went home to her Heavenly Father on January 30, 2019. She was born September 29, 1933 in Hicks, Arkansas to Traugott and Ida Welti Steiner. She was the oldest of four children.
Lillian was raised in Hicks, AR, a Swiss community near Marvell, AR. She graduated from Marvell High School. She met the love of her life, Calvin Bass, while working in Dallas. They recognized each other passing on the street and realized they grew up in the same community in Arkansas. She and her husband founded Bass Engineering Company in 1967 and led the company for 38 years until she retired in 2005. One of the greatest joys in her life was having her grandchildren live close by and being actively involved in their lives. She enjoyed singing in the church choir for over 40 years. She often volunteered at Greggton Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, New Gate Mission, Asbury House Garage Sale, and other local missions. She was always kind and generous and ready to help someone in need. She loved her Lord and was a long-time faithful member of Greggton United Methodist Church.
Lillian is survived by her son and wife, Jim and Debby Bass of Longview; daughter and husband, Susan and Kevin Gordon of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Brian Bass and his wife Bonnie, Michael Bass and his wife Nicole, Anna Brown, and Lisa Bass; brother Robert Steiner; sister Ann Palmer; sister-in-law Clara Bass and many nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Bass; her parents; and her sister Clara Humphreys.
