Lewis Raymond Ford, Jr.'s Obituary
Lewis Raymond Corky Ford, Jr. age 75, of Longview, passed away March 31, 2013 at Longview Regional Medical Center. He was born June 15, 1937 in Hallsville to Raymond and Almeda Ford. Corky graduated from Hallsville High School where he lettered in many sports. He then attended Kilgore College and UT Austin.
Corky honorably served our country in the US Army and the US Army Reserves. He worked for the Texas Highway Department and then retired from Texas Eastman. While working at Texas Eastman, Corky met a co-worker, Sydney, whom he married in 1982. He was inducted into the H Association Hall of Fame and served on their board of directors. He also served on the Hallsville school board and was a member of the Hallsville Methodist Church. His loves were family, friends and golf.
Corky is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sydney Ford; his daughter Kelly Miller and husband Jim, step-daughters Carmen Page and son-in-law Von Vogel, and Mary Corlett; two granddaughters Kandice Foster and husband Matthew, and Holli Bennett and husband Ryan; two grandsons Zachary and Nicholas Thedford; one great-granddaughter to-be Ryan Rachelle Bennett; two brothers Al Ford and wife Glenda, and L.R. Dink Ford and wife Gay; a sister Linda Buchanan and husband Mike, and numerous other family and friends. Corky will be deeply missed.
Corky was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Ford Sr. and Almeda Ford.
Funeral Services will be 2pm today at Radar Funeral Home in Longview. Interment will follow at Gum Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.
