Lewis Green's Obituary
Funeral Services for Lewis ?Pappy? Green, 83, of Longview, will be 10 AM Friday at the First Christian Church of Longview with Dr. Jim Lewis and Reverend David Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery. Rader Funeral Home, Longview, in charge of arrangements.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 20, 6 to 8 PM.
Born in Gilmer, Texas, he had lived in Longview since 1945 and had worked for Moore Brothers Lumber Company for 43 years as an accountant. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Cornerstone Sunday School Class and was involved with Meals on Wheels. Mr. Green served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years: Durene Bassham Green; daughter: Linda Kay McCaffity and a sister: Bonnie Faye Bowdoin. He is survived by his wife: June of Longview; daughters: Wanda Sue Voncannon and husband John of Longview and Gloria Rogers Willeford of Longview; Sons: Edward Eddie Lewis Green and wife Diane of Longview, Clay Rogers of Austin, and Paul F. Rogers and wife Debra of Alexandria, VA.; sister: Jessie Mae Brooks and husband Merrell of Longview; thirteen 13 grandchildren and twenty 20 great grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to Hospice of Longview and/or First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
