Lester Osborne Nugent's Obituary
Funeral services for Lester O. Nugent, 86, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Bro. Butch Tanner and Tom Tennimon officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park. Mr. Nugent passed away in a local hospital. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Lester was born on March 23, 1929 in Olla, LA to John and Lee Nugent. He was one of 13 children. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Trailmobile and then he was able to follow his dream of driving a big rig for many years. After retirement he drove cars for several dealerships and enjoyed that very much. He was a long time Baptist, being a member of Oakland Heights Baptist and a Deacon Emeritus at Northside Baptist Church. He loved his family very much. He was married to Ora Mae Nugent for 41 years and together they had 2 children, Curtis and Ranae. He loved being a dad and was every childs “Dream Dad.” He loved to travel with his wife Mary Beloney Nugent, especially to the Rio Grande Valley and loved to attend jams and listen to music. Mr. Nugent enjoyed life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters, Emory, Earl, Baxter (Tutt), Hansel, Larheu, J.E., Norma, Chester, Laverne, Don, and Lorence.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Mary Nugent; son and daughter-in-law Curtis and Christine Nugent; daughter and son-in-law Ranae and Tim Tennimon; one brother, W.R. Nugent and his wife Velma; 2 grandsons, Niels, and Arlo Nugent and Kim Caterina; great granddaughter Alexandria; step daughter Candi Rivers and her husband Tom; step daughter Tonya Lyons; brothers-in-law Donald and Lee Thomas, and Thomas and Orita Beloney; 4 step grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren.
