Leslie Roy "Les" Wiesner's Obituary
Leslie Roy “Les” Wiesner, 81, of Longview, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. He was born in Williamson County, Texas on September 5, 1933, to Emil and Lena Wiesner. He attended Elgin High School, and married Mildred Justice Wiesner on November 14, 1953.
Les served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1956. Les retired from Continental Can in 1992 after 40 years of service in Houston, Longview and Germany. He was dedicated to his community by serving as a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Les was a jack of all trades. He was an avid outdoorsman, skilled craftsman, and very involved with his family. He never missed his grandchildren or great-grandchildren’s ballgames, and was his son, Roy’s, right hand man on every construction project, task or hobby.
He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Mildred Wiesner; his son, Roy Wiesner and wife Bonnie of Longview; his granddaughters, Leslie Baker and husband Mark of White Oak, and Lindsey Clark and husband Brian of New Orleans, Louisiana; his great-grandchildren, Luke and Madison Baker of White Oak; his sister, Elnora Russell of Palmer, Alaska; and brothers Arthur Wiesner of Bastrop, Texas and August Wiesner and wife Annabelle of Elgin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29th at St. Matthews Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., with burial following at Rosewood Park. Visitation will be held Friday, November 28th from 6:00-8:00 at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Matthews Catholic Church Education or Building funds.
