LeRoy Chappell's Obituary
LeRoy J. Chappell, 87, of Longview, TX passed away on July 15, 2024, in Longview.
Funeral Services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Rosewood Cemetery Mausoleum with Greg Martin of Mobberly Baptist Church officiating. A private burial will follow. Arrangements are made by Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
LeRoy was born in Angels Camp, California to James and Mae Chappell on January 5, 1937. He attended the Altaville One Room School and Bret Harte Union High School graduating in 1955. After high school, LeRoy enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS DeHaven, DD 727 as an electrician’s mate. LeRoy left the Navy in 1959. LeRoy married Kay Lee on March 6, 1960, in Lynwood, CA. Using his Navy training he went to work for Pacific Bell Telephone before transferring to Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1965 and retiring in 2003. He was a longtime member of Mobberly Ave. Baptist Church where he served faithfully. LeRoy enjoyed sports and being outdoors, golfing, hunting, boating, fishing, and camping.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Alberta, Bud, and Betty.
LeRoy is survived by wife Kay, son Rodney Chappell of Cleburne, TX, daughter Rhonda and husband Ben House of Longview, TX, grandson Landon House, granddaughter Allison Scanlon and husband Kohl, grandson Carson House, granddaughter Emily Vandewater and husband Jason, grandson Ryan Chappell, and great grandson Ryker Scanlon along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ben House, Landon House, Carson House, Ryan Chappell, Kohl Scanlon, and Jason Vandewater
