Lera Francis Talley's Obituary
Graveside services for Lera Francis Allen Talley , 97, of Longview will be 10 AM Friday, November 5th at the Marlow Cemetery in Marlow , Oklahoma with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Mrs. Talley died Monday, November 1st at a Longview hospital.
She was born January 12, 1907 at Ashland, Alabama to Pascal and Annie
Caroline Treadwell Allen. Miss Lera Allen attended Oklahoma State University and in 1936 began teaching grade school in Marlow, Oklahoma. In 1939, she married Dr. C.N. Talley of Marlow.
Mrs. Talley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marlow. A person of many talents and interests, she was involved in gardening, flower arranging, sewing , music, water skiing, traveling and reading. She was an avid collector of antique items, embroidery, loomed goods, and art.
Mrs. Talley was active in cub scouting and the Marlow Round Up Club. She was a member of the Stephens County, Oklahoma Medical Auxiliary and served as president for three terms and as the district president for six years. She also served as mental health chairman in Marlow and was a member of the D.A. R.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C.N. Talley; her sisters, Mary Shoults and Juanita Jordan; and her brothers, Claude, Lewis and John Allen. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sandy Talley of Longview; granddaughters and husbands, Tandy Ann And Dana Deason of Longview and Dana Kay and Jonathan Leavaitt of Beverly Farms, Mass.; great grandchildren, Danielle and Caroline and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd.
Wednesday evening 6 to 8 PM.
