Leona Olivier Cleghorn's Obituary
Rosary for Leona Olivier Lee Cleghorn, 78, of Henderson, will be recited at 7:00 PM Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Rader Funeral Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 15, 2007, at St. Jude?s Catholic Church, 200 Morningside.
Burial will follow in the Henderson City Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cleghorn, beloved wife of Troyce W. Cleghorn, died Thursday morning, December 13, 2007 at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born August 22, 1929, in Broussard, Louisiana, a granddaughter of Charles L. and Leona Gauthier Billeaud and a great granddaughter of Martial Billeaud I, founder of the Billeaud Sugar Mill in Broussard and a pioneer in the sugar industry in South Louisiana. Brought up in Houston, Mrs. Cleghorn was the daughter of Vida Billeaud Olivier and Wilfred A. Olivier, Sr., whose family were also early Louisiana pioneers. Her father settled in Texas in the early 1900s. She attended St. Agnes Academy in Houston for 12 years, was graduated in 1948. She then attended Our Lady Of The Lake College now University in San Antonio and the University of Houston. She was the mother of six, a Poet, Interior Decorator, and keeper of memories. An inveterate crossword puzzle player, she loved people- especially babies; music, dancing, reading, poetry, cooking, gardening, her church and her family.
Mrs. Cleghorn is survived by her husband, Troyce Weyland Cleghorn; daughters and son-in-law, Martha Bell Nugent of Mandeville, LA, Suzanne and John Batchelor of Amelia Island, FL, Allison Whitehead of Dallas; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Randall Bell of Ft.Worth, TX., John and Leslie Bell of San Diego, CA., and Tobin R. Bell of Pacific Beach, CA.; grandsons, Kyle Patrick Nugent of Mandeville, LA., and James Manion Bell of San Diego, CA.; granddaughter, Kate Chapman Bell of San Diego, CA.,
Sisters, Charlotte O. Calhoun of Houston, Catherine O. Young of Houston, and Mary O. Daly of Alvarado, TX; brothers, Eugene C. Olivier of Houston and John Nicholas Olivier of Fayetteville, AR; many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Ryan Irish Nugent and son-in-law Louis Victor Nugent.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
