Leona Powell Hawkins' Obituary
Graveside services for Leona Powell Hawkins will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 1 p.m. Mrs. Hawkins passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 in McKinney, TX.
Mrs. Hawkins was born in Hugo, Oklahoma on April 5, 1926 to Gene and Winnie Mae Powell. She graduated from Hugo High School, married Billy H. Hawkins in November 1944. She moved to Longview in 1948 when Mr. Hawkins began his coaching career. Leona was an avid Lobo supporter throughout her life in Longview. She taught at Oakland Heights Pre-school where she educated multiple generations of families. She moved to McKinney in 2013 where she lived happily with her family until she passed away.
Mrs. Hawkins is preceded in death by her husband Billy H. Hawkins.
She is survived by her daughter Jennie Hawkins Banks of McKinney, TX; son and daughter-in-law Billy M. Hawkins and wife Judy of McKinney; granddaughter Heather and husband Matt Richter of McKinney; grandson Barrett T. and wife Kate Hawkins of Peachtree City, GA; great grandchildren Peyton and Finley Richter of McKinney, TX; Emily and Tucker T. Hawkins of Peachtree City, GA.
