Leon Nash Mills' Obituary
Leon Nash Mills was born October 26, 1924, in Joaquin, Texas, to Sweetie and Robert Mills. He died peacefully October 18, 2009, at home. He graduated from Atlanta High School and joined the Army in 1941. Mr. Mills was a Pearl Harbor survivor and proudly served his country in World War II in Hawaii, Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines.
He graduated from LeTourneau Technical Institute in 1949 and went to work for LeTourneau as a machinist. He later worked and retired from Lebus International. Mr. Mills was a longtime member of Mobberly Baptist Church.
Survivors are his three daughters, Joyce and husband Terry Vriezelaar of Monroe, Iowa, Vickie Simmons of Kilgore, Texas, and Peggy and husband Gary Jackson of Derry, New Hampshire; three sons, James Nealy of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tommy and wife Melody Nealy of Houston, Texas, and Terry and wife Katherine Nealy of Longview, Texas; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mills; his parents, Sweetie and Robert Mills; and three brothers, Cecil Mills, R.B. Mills and Lovic Mills.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, today, October 21, 2009, from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Thursday, October 22, 2009, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Barham officiating. Burial will follow in Queen City Cemetery in Queen City, Texas, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
