Lenora Beck's Obituary
Lenora Frances Headley Beck passed away on March 12, 2015 in Longview, Texas at Good Shepard Medical Center after a courageous battle against cancer. She is survived by her husband Dave Beck Sr, her mother Bess Headley, her brother Peter Headley and his wife Trish, her sister Calista Headley Bernabe and her husband Henri, her nephews Matthew Headley, Henry Bernabe and Louis Bernabe, her niece Michelle Headley Pryor and her husband Stephen, her great- nephews Jake and Shep Pryor and her great-niece Eliza Pryor. Lenora was preceded in death by her father Dr. Frank S. Headley in 1995. She leaves behind numerous cousins living in many different states.
Lenora was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on November 19, 1950. She graduated from Port Gibson High School in 1968. In 1972 she earned her Bachelor of Elementary Education degree from Mississippi University for Women and began teaching in the Harrison County Schools.
Lenora chose to leave teaching for a career in the United States Army in 1975. She was at Fort McClellan, Alabama, then Fort Lee Virginia, becoming an Instructor at Quartermaster School until 1979. She then spent 3 years in Okinawa, Japan as Commander, Headquarter Detachment, U.S. Army Garrison. During this time Lenora obtained a Masters of Education from the University of Maryland Far East Division of Okinawa, graduating in 1982.
From 1982 until 1986 Lenora returned to the United States at Fort Polk, Louisiana as a Supply and Services Officer. In 1986 she mastered the German language at Presidio of Monterey in Monterey, California. For the following three years she returned to Europe as a Supply Officer at Maastricht, The Netherlands, and then spent one year in the position of Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
From 1990 to 1993 Lenora was a Supply Officer at Fort Hood Texas and from 1993 to 1996 she was a Supply officer at the Defense Electronics Supply Center in Dayton, Ohio.
Lenora retired from her exemplary career in the US Army in 1996 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Lenora began working at BorgWarner as Administrative Assistant to the Plant Manager in Longview in 1996 and continued until her retirement in 2008.
