Funeral services for Lena Kathryn Walker Anderson, 89, of Jacksboro, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksboro, Texas, with Reverend David English officiating. Mrs. Anderson passed away Friday, July 27, 2012
Mrs. Anderson was born February 2, 1923, in Jacksboro, Texas to Ollie Ned and Gladys Elda Walker. She lived most of her life in Jacksboro, Texas, graduating from Jacksboro High School in 1941. After high school, she completed a secretarial course at Draughn's Business College in Ft. Worth, Texas. She married Staff Sergeant Edward Russell Dearing in 1944, who lost his life on November 2, 1944 in Germany during World War II. They had one daughter, Kathryn Anne Reagan, born on December 14, 1944.
Mrs. Anderson worked as a secretary for Judge H.C. McClure, Dr. W.G. Mask, and the Jacksboro Gazette News. In 1958, she married Neal Dennis Anderson. He had two daughters, Nelda Neal Anderson and Evelyn Marie Anderson. For many years, the family lived in the Anderson family home in Barton Chapel before moving into Jacksboro in 1980.
Mrs. Anderson was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed needlework and china painting. She was a member of the Lost Valley Porcelain Art Club and First Baptist Church in Jacksboro, Texas.
In May 2001, Mrs. Anderson moved to Buckner Westminster Place in Longview, Texas. She lived there, as well as the Assisted Living Center and the Holly House Skilled Nursing Home at Buckner until her death.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Bill Reagan of Longview, Texas, her daughter and son-in-law, Nelda and Roy Cooper of West, Texas, her daughter Marie Anderson Halman of Frisco, Texas and her brother and sister-in-law Ray Ned and Truetta Walker of Alvarado. Mrs. Anderson has seven grandchildren: Angie Reagan Payne and husband Brett Payne, Amy Reagan Richard and husband David Richard, Mark William Reagan and wife Tatum Reagan, Lara Halman Waymire, Holly Halman Nicol and husband Thad Nichol, Kimberly Cooper Golden and husband Darren Golden, and Kelly Cooper Bergman and husband Lloyd Bergman. She has six great grandchildren: Carter and Katie Payne, Baker and Macey Reagan, Blake Nicol, and Will Waymire. She also has three sisters-in-law, Ruth Johnson, Thelma Brannock, and Louise Hundley.
