Leland D. Salyer's Obituary
Funeral services for Leland D. Salyer, 88, of Longview will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Oakland Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Bright officiating. Entombment will follow in Lakeview Mausoleum. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Salyer passed away Saturday afternoon in a local hospital. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Leland was born on August 23, 1923 in Comanche, TX to Kellie and Ollie Salyer. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and was a 1958 graduate of the University of Houston. He married the love of his life, Inez Patterson, in 1944. Mr. Salyer worked for 40 years as an Engineer for Humble Pipeline. He was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed serving as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Inez Salyer; his son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Jann Salyer; grandson, Chris Salyer and his wife Shelly; granddaughter Jennifer Salyer Hansard and her husband Robert; step granddaughters Jennifer Ann Diaz and her husband Chacho, and Jena Darragh and her husband Nick; step grandson Jared Bogenschutz and his wife Tina; and 11 great grandchildren.
