Lee Paul Tipps' Obituary
Surrounded by love, Lee Paul Tipps, 70, of Longview, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, August 10th after a courageous battle with MDS and Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born on September 22, 1954, in Grand Saline, Texas, to Harold and Lois Tipps of Winnsboro, Texas.
Paul graduated from Winnsboro High School, Class of 1973. During his senior year, he met the love of his life, Debbie, a bond that blossomed into a devoted marriage lasting 52 years. Paul cherished his wife Debbie and valued their life together above all else. Together, they shared a lifetime of love and memories.
Paul dedicated 30 years working as an electrical superintendent for Brown and Root at Texas Eastman. He later retired from UT Health Center, where he worked as an electrician in Energy Management.
At the heart of Paul's life were the people he loved and the passions that brought him fulfillment. Whether he was cheering on the Texas Rangers or Dallas Cowboys, proudly supporting his children and grandchildren at all their sporting events, relaxing at home with his four-legged companions by his side, listening to his favorite Beatles tunes, or spending time in his garden that he took such pride in, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures. His kindness, love of life, easy going nature, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lois Tipps; his grandparents, Pearl and Albert Bates, and Sylvester and Myrtle Tipps; and his brother and best friend, Hank Tipps, whose unexpected passing earlier this year was a heartbreaking loss.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie; his two daughters, Ashley Terry and husband Tyler, and Corey Tipps; his five grandchildren, Addison, Remington, Hudson, Lane, and Carson; his mother-in-law, Gladys Barker of Longview, TX; his sister-in-law, Debbie Tipps (“Hank’s Debbie”) of Lindale, TX; his brother- and sister-in-law, Ansel and Jhetta Hayes of Liberty City, TX; and his nieces and nephews: Marci Evans (Scott) of Hawkins, TX; Brandon Tipps (Julie) of Fort Worth, TX; Brett Tipps (Haley) of Aledo, TX; Shannon McDermott (Dominic) of Fallbrook, CA; and Adam Hayes (Afton) of White Oak, TX and his much adored dogs, Frank, Hank and Tika.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 15th at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Rosewood Park in Longview, Texas.
If you wish to honor Paul’s memory, the family asks that donations be made to the Texas Oncology Cancer Center of Longview in gratitude for the compassionate care of Dr. Kavita Nirmal and her team.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to MD Anderson Cancer Center (Dr. Gautam Borthakur) and CHRISTUS Health for the exceptional care and compassion shown by all of the doctors, nurses, and staff. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.
