I just today found out that Lee had passed away, and I was very saddened to learn this. I had known Lee for about 5 years, during which time we had done numerous keyboard trades back & forth between Austin and Fort Worth.
I last saw Lee in the Fall of 2001 when I was attending a conference in Austin.....and then I lost track of him. I knew our paths would cross again someday, but I didn't expect this news. As a sad cooincidence, Lee passed away just over one month after another mutual friend of ours and musician/keyboard collector, Doug Ferguson. Lee and Doug were both the same age when they passed. I am sure that they are in "synthesizer heaven" at this very moment, and I hope to meet up with them there when it's my turn to make the journey.
Lee was a very unique individual, and I am glad to have known him. In many ways he and I had absolutely nothing in common, but on many levels I had more in common with him than just about anyone else I ever knew. He was always 100% accepting of me and everyone else he met, and he will always be remembered for that wonderful quality that so many of us lack. He was also a very spiritual person, and I enjoyed the deep conversations we had on occasion. His spirit is now free from all earthly pains, and I'm sure he is right at home where he is now.
Of all the musical equipment that I obtained from Lee over the years, I have only one piece left....a Minimoog, which I will never part with and will always remember Lee whenever I play it.
Lee, I'll see you again someday!
Your friend,
