Lawrence Edward Reast's Obituary
Services for Lawrence (L.E.) Reast of Longview, will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 12:00. The family will receive friends from 11-12 Friday, before the service, at the funeral home. Officiating is Kenny Hawthorne. Mr. Reast went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 22nd. Born Lawrence Edward Reast, on December 1, 1925 to Frank and Ruth Brown Reast in Ethel, Texas. Burial will take place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview.
Mr. Reast retired from ExxonMobil (Humble Oil) with 30 years of service. He was a member of Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He and his wife, Dorothy traveled after retirement in their motorhome across the US. Mr. and Mrs. Reast were seen at many ballgames supporting the White Oak Roughnecks, UT Tyler Patriots and Panola Ponies watching their grandchildren. His proudest moments were watching his grandchildren graduate from college.
He was a WWII Veteran in the Army-Air Corp and was a lifetime member of Grayson County Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Staff Sargent enlisting at 17 years old. Lawrence was a bombardier on a B-24 Navigator. He was stationed in Italy and shot down on one mission.
Survivors are his wife of 70 years, Dorothy, daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Glenn Copeland of Longview. Grandchildren and spouses: Clay and Tara Copeland of Poolville TX, Scott and Hillary Copeland of Hattiesburg MS, Shelby and Nathan Skeen of Joaquin TX. Great grandchildren include Travis, Landry and Peyton Copeland of Poolville, Easton Skeen of Joaquin and Sutton Reast Copeland (on the way). Nephew Robert Atwood of Austin, nieces and nephew Carol and Bob Moore of Sherman, Cheri Webb of Bryan and Brenda Scharff of Sherman, Kim, Justin and Katy Wright of Midlothian and Dana and Justin, Delaney, Carson, Macy and Samuel Martinez of Iola.
Preceding him in death were his sister, Mary Atwood and parents Ruth Brown and Tom Henry and Frank Reast and Grandmother who raised him Roxanne Brown. Memorial contributions can be made to White Oak Community Church Building Fund or to the White Oak Baseball Association Scholarship Fund.
