LaVoyce Thornton's Obituary
LaVoyce Thornton age 97 passed away April 4, 2019 in Longview Texas after declining health. She was born December 27, 1921 to Harrison Horris Moulton and Rexie Belle Wood in Mt Pleasant Texas. She was married in 1948 to Elbert Thornton. The two had 3 children Mary, Martha and Ben.
As a resident of Dallas County, she worked in the war plants during World War ll. LaVoyce was Homemaker and involved in the School as head of the PTA. Dedicated to her church as a member of the First Baptist Oak Cliff. She assisted her husband Elbert Thornton in many occasions which involved their Arabian Horses. She had traveled to several countries and love cruising the seas. In her past time, she loved decorating and collecting items for her home.
LaVoyce and Elbert Thornton retired and moved to Longview, Texas in 1985 on Elbert Thornton’s family land. She was a member of First Baptist Longview. She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Dorthy Eddy, JoAnn McAliister, Fayrene Pittman her son Ben Thornton and Grandson Shaun Luke Thornton.
LaVoyce is also survived by daughters Mary Vaughn, Martha Glasgow husband John Glasgow. Granddaughters Lori Wheeler husband Bob Wheeler, Bonnie Abram husband Andre Abram, Amy Benage, Kathryn Orologio and husband Shayne Orologio. Great grandchildren Baylee Burns Madalyn and Jack Benage. She will be greatly missed.
There will be time of visitation at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm with funeral service the next day, Monday, April 8, 2019 at the funeral home starting at 4pm with interment following at Stewart Cemetery out of Tatum.
