Laura Webb's Obituary
Laura Elysee Webb, “Singer of things. Designer of things. Lover of all things
colorful and whimsical.”
Laura was victorious through Jesus over an arduous battle with ALS and won the
war, arriving into the glorious arms of her Savior on May 22, 2024. Born on
September 25, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas, she was the only child of Rick and
Blessed Webb of Longview, Texas.
A memorial service to be held June 1st , Saturday, at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary of
First Baptist Church of Longview Texas, with her dearly loved daddy, Dr. Rick B
Webb, officiating. Visitation to be held after the service in the church foyer.
She was a 2002 graduate of Pine Tree High School, having a resonate and rich
dramatic alto voice, Laura’s love of music began under the music ministry of
Harlan and Mary Hall and Beth Sheffield at First Baptist Church, Longview Texas.
Attaining a B.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas, she
went on to study for her M.M. in Opera Performance at The Boston Conservatory
of Music, Boston MA. Laura was proud to have been a soloist and member of The
Tanglewood Chorus, Boston Symphony Orchestra, performing several seasons at
the Tanglewood Music Festival. During her tenure in Nashville, she was a soloist
and choir member of West End United Methodist Church. Laura also was a past
member of the North Texas Voices performing chamber and choral concerts in
Dallas, while also using her artistic talents in digital design & marketing.
For all her vocal achievements, she was most proud to have had a long and truly
personal relationship with Jesus Christ as her Savior, which only deepened during
this devastating diagnosis. The once beautiful alto voice, tragically paralyzed at the
end of her life on this earth, now rings pure and true with praises to her Lord in
Paradise.
Welcoming her into Eternity were her grandparents, Hazel & Joe Hickey of
Longview Texas, and Jesse & Hazel Finley of Houston Texas.
Celebrating her life are her devoted and beloved parents, Rick and Blessed Webb,
her cherished, faithful, and loved boyfriend, Christian Quintana and his extended
family of Wylie Texas. She is grateful for her “Swedish brother” David Hessler of
Stockholm, Sweden, and her feline “fur baby” Wally. Also celebrating her freedom
from pain are her precious loyal champions Uncle Mike and Aunt Tracy Webb of
Longview Texas, who stood in the gap with love, many prayers, encouragement
and physical assistance, no matter the time of day or night. Her cousins Daniel
Webb (Tammy) & Nikki Webb Black (Harold) all of Keller – who stepped in with
visits, calls and help whenever asked. Also, we thank God for Her Uncle David
Webb of Melrose Texas and his daughter’s, Robin Truchelut and Holli (Nakia)
Wilson.
A special thank you to the nursing staff of the Longview Regional ICU and PCU
and the staff of Buckner Westminster Place – Hawthorne House who cared for
Laura with loving compassion and tender care, giving her and her family comfort
in the transition to heaven.
Finally, a huge thank you to those dear friends who stood beside her on this
journey, particularly Andrea Edmondson Nykamp of Longview, Bridget Hughes of
Houston, Sommer Jennings & Brett Wilkins of Marshall Texas. As well as many
others who came to visit from across the globe to share their love, laughter, and
some hilarious memories of times with Laura. Finally, but not least are all those
prayer warriors (known and unknown) who prayed and lifted our family up while
dealing with this vile disease – we could not have persevered without the strength
we found from those prayers. God heard and used your prayers.
Laura loved dramatic & colorfully decorated celebrations of all kinds, always
“making a memory”. So, it is appropriate that Laura’s final wish is that those who
knew her will remember her for her joy for life and her faith in Jesus. And she
desires that each of you to come to know Jesus, personally – “so we can be
together again in heaven” – “For you will go out with joy and be led forth with
peace. The mountains and hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And
all the trees of the field will clap theirs hands.” Isaiah 55:12
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Laura’s memory to: Buckner
Westminster Place, Senior Care & Assistance, 2201 Horseshoe Lane, Longview
TX 75605 or the “No Greater Joy Children’s Choir” of First Baptist Church,
Longview TX.
