Laura "Mawmaw" Pickett's Obituary
Laura “Mawmaw” Pickett age 81, passed away July 4, 2014 in Longview, TX. She was born June 29, 1933 in Horatio, Arkansas to James and Maude Pettigrew. It was in Horatio she attended local schools growing up. Ms. Pickett moved to the Longview area in 1966 and has lived here ever since. She was a longtime desk clerk for the Ramada Inn in Longview and later was part of the design and construction team for the Guest Inn and once opened she was the manager there. Among her many joys was embroidery, sewing and quilting where she made many baby and pet quilts for her family and friends. Ms. Pickett was a longtime member of Mobberly Baptist Church and then most recently Oakland Heights Baptist Church both in Longview.
“Mawmaw” is survived by three loving daughters Lori Frazier and her husband Larry, Pam Suggs and Kari Shurtleff and her husband Jerry. She is also survived by three grandchildren Melanie Ware and her husband Craig, Melissa Miller and her husband Brad and Renee Pickett and her husband Clarence Ingram, Jr., great grandchildren Blake and Preston Ware, Terry, Dylan and Layne Miller, and soon to be born Layla Beth Miller, also Bailey & Mary Eden Ingram. Ms Pickett’s brother Carroll Pettigrew and his wife Edna, special niece Faith Lynch and many extended family.
Her husband of 31 years Samuel Pickett and her son Curt Pickett both precede her in passing.
As per her wishes there will be no services. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
