Laura was a cherished wife, mother, Nana and friend who loved the Bible, her church and her family. She was born August 1, 1947 in Kilgore, TX to Jesse and Eunice Gresham. She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Montgomery, in 1966. Together they made their home and raised their family in Longview for 40 wonderful years. Her pride was her 2 sons and their families: Russ & Keri Montgomery of Longview and Mike & Cathy Montgomery of Pearland. She was a sweet, loving Nana to her 5 grandchildren: Parker, Will, Makenzie, Riley and Sidney. She has 2 adoring sisters, Nora Rousseau of Henderson and Jessica Morgan of Whitehouse and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Laura was an active member of Mobberly Baptist Church since 1977. She taught 3rd grade Sunday School, volunteered in the Prayer Room and was involved in the Women?s Ministry. Her greatest love was the church library. She worked for 30 years as office manager of Texas Furniture Company in Longview.
Fighting heart disease for two years, Laura showed herself to be a brave and courageous woman through multiple surgeries and a heart transplant.
Laura?s family and friends will always remember her as a kind, loving, giving and strong woman who loved her God above all else. ?Well done my good and faithful servant.?
In keeping with Laura?s wish, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Mobberly Baptist Church Library.
