Lataine Durst's Obituary
Graveside services for Lataine Durst, of Longview, Texas, will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 2 PM at the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Steven Newcomb officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service at Rosewood Mausoleum Chapel. Mrs. Durst was born on January 31, 1925 in Catchings, Mississippi and passed away peacefully on February 7, 2019.
Lataine was the oldest of 10 children. She married Brian P. Durst (Pat) on March 18, 1945. They had three children, Brian, John, and Susan. Lataine was a homemaker and expert cook. She loved working in the vegetable garden. They would plant and harvest many different types of vegetables every year and she loved canning her own vegetables. She took great pride in her yard being perfectly manicured and was the envy of the neighborhood. Another of her many talents was sewing. Whether it was her daughter’s wedding dress or the many drapes she made for others, she sewed love into every stitch. She also taught sewing classes at Kilgore College, and sold “Luzier” makeup for 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian Patrick Durst, Sr.; her brothers Robert Richardson, Captain William DeLoach Richardson, Col. Marlin Richardson, and Frank Richardson; her sister, Marjorie Bates; and her daughter-in-law Charlotte Durst.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Brian P. Durst, Jr. and his wife Debbie, John Durst and his wife Kandace, and Susan Durst Garner and her husband Paul; her brothers and sisters Merlin Richardson, Shirley Keys, Kaye Burns, and Ronald Richardson; her grandchildren: Amy Balentine, Brian Patrick Durst, III, Trent Durst, Sydnie Vallery, Patricia Garner, and Coleman Garner; her great grandchildren: Ashley Barnes, Kelly Balentine, Charlotte Durst, Brian Patrick Durst, IV, Tyler Durst, Oakley Vallery, Ellie Vallery, Abe Vallery, Andrew Vallery, Isaac Vallery, Isabelle Vallery, Olivia Vallery, Josie Durst, Peyton Garner, and Madeline Garner; and great-great- grandson Wyatt Barnes.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and the Alpine House Assisted Living Facility.
