Larry Pope Megason's Obituary
Graveside services for Larry Pope Megason, 75, of Longview will be 2pm Monday December 22, 2008 at Grace Hill Cemetery. With his loving wife by his side, Larry was taken peacefully to heaven on Friday December 19, 2008.
He was born March 29, 1933 in Hallsville, Texas. Larry graduated from Longview High Scvhool in 1950. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Germany during the Korean War. He was attached to the Atomic Cannon Unit.
After serving our nation, he attended Tyler Junior College for two years, and then trannsferred to North Texas, where he graduated in 1957. Larry went on to become a fire and safety inspector for more than 24 years.
Larry loved life and loved people. He enjoyed spending time reminiscing about his childhood and the old times. Larry was a very interesting and intelligent man. He had a passion for history and a love for collecting antiques. He was a blessing to be around and a joy to talk to.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mae Megason; along with his brothers, George and Jack Megason.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Ginger, his son and daughter-in-law, Reid and Kathy Megason of Richardson, his daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Mike Smith and granddaughter, Savannah Wood of Dallas, and grandchildren, Will Cooper and Natalie Cooper of Longview and his step-daughter and son-in-law, Lesa and Randy Wyat, and grandchildren Lauren Bjork and Luke Wyatt.
