Larry Aldridge's Obituary
Larry Aldridge was born on January 29, 1960 in Laredo, TX to D.H. (Swede) and Betty
Aldridge. He went into the loving arms of his Lord Jesus Christ on June 1, 2023 surrounded by
family after a long illness.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years Kathy Aldridge, his sons Blake
Aldridge and fiance’ Natalie Sigala, Corey Crawford and wife Angela; granddaughter Audrey
Crawford; mother Betty Aldridge; sisters Sally Strong and husband Jeff, Betsy McAlexander;
brothers Harris Aldridge, John Aldridge and wife Deborah; a host of nieces, nephews,
great-nieces, great-nephews; numerous other loving family members; a host of friends, and his
loving dog “Barney”. He is preceded in death by his father Swede Aldridge, and his brother Bill
Aldridge.
Larry was a long-time resident of Longview. He graduated from Longview High School
in 1978. He had a successful career at Holt Caterpillar for 26 years, and was a member of
Mobberly Baptist Church. Larry was very involved with the Great Texas Balloon Race as
Operations Director for decades and was dedicated to the event. He was also the long-time crew
chief to Bill Bussey and loved traveling the country with the balloons. His very identity was tied
to serving others and the community. He found great joy in being a helping hand and was always
the one called when someone was in need.
Larry never wanted anyone to feel left out or unloved. He helped many, no matter what
age or background. He always made sure the room was filled with laughter and could instantly
make someone’s day better. He leaves a gaping hole in this world that he would want us to step
up and fill. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many. He
will be greatly missed. Words cannot express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks for the
many actions of kindness shown to us over the past few days. We will be forever thankful for all
of your prayers, comforting words, cards, texts, phone calls, flowers, and food. We felt God’s
presence surrounding us during this tough time of loss.
