Lanny Bell's Obituary
Lanny Ross Bell, age 82, of Hawkins, Texas passed on February 26, 2025. Lanny was born May 24, 1942 in Rusk County to Oscar and Mamie Bell. Lanny was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rudy Bell and sister Martha Wallace. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his brother, Jim of Ore City; children, Amber Francis of Hallsville; Brett Bell and wife Carolyn of Brookston; Corey Fears and husband Travis of Tatum; Devin Bell and wife Cheryl of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Jeffrey Norton and wife, Cheyenne; Chelsea Norton, Carlton Bell, Jordan Bell, Braden Bell and Ryan Bell; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Lanny served in the United States Army and the Army Reserve. He returned to Liberty City and began his 35 year long career at Eastman Chemical Company in Longview . He spent several years coaching girls softball and building the youth softball league in Liberty City. He traveled many miles while working with the crew of the top alcohol drag race boat called Night Moves. For many years, he enjoyed riding horses with a close group of friends who called themselves the Monroe Riders. Those friends will serve as pallbearers for one last ride with Lanny. They are Johnny Leach, Max Beck, Jack Kenner, Ken Ragel, Randel Moreland and Jon McClendon. He was a member of the Bar None Cowboy Church.
Funeral services for Mr. Bell will be held at Bar None Cowboy Church in Tatum, TX on Tuesday, March 4 at 10am with a burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
