La Nell Cupit
Memorial services for La Nell Cupit, 84, of Longview will be held at 1 PM Thursday, July 31, 2003 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Dewayne Beaty officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Park. She passed away Monday evening in a Longview hospital.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Wednesday, July 30 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cupit was born July 14, 1919, in Shelby County to W. H. and Pearl Still. Upon graduation from Center High School in 1936, she attended Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College in Nacogdoches, TX. She earned her certification to teach school in 1939. She taught for several years.
On May the 15, 1943, she was married to 1st. Lt. Dale Cupit. She continued to teach school until moving to Orange, TX. while awaiting Dale?s return from WWII. She served as registrar of Carthage High School for several years, having the School?s yearbook dedicated to her in 1952. Other career notes include Personnel manager for Sears-Roebuck, Lake Charles, LA., Unit Buying Control Manager for Sears-Roebuck for the Golden Triangle, TX. stores. In 1982 she and her husband retired to Longview, TX.
Mrs. Cupit was very interested in her family, Church, friends, and flowers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Longview, where she belonged to the Faith Sunday School Class.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 61 years, Dale Cupit of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Herdy and Jo Cupit of Longview; grandson, Conner Cupit and his wife Lara of Dallas, TX.; granddaughters, Courtney Long and husband Nathan of Longview; and Cathryn Morgan and husband Jason of Beaufort, SC.; Three great grandchildren, Harrison Gunter, Benjamin and Lilly Long. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be William Jackson, Scottie Jackson, Harry Still, Michael Still, Mervin Ozan and Earl Partin.
