Mr. Thomas was a good friend of my mothers. I was also a student at DHS and had the pleasure of visiting with him and talking to him. I never had him as a teacher personally, but I still know who he is.

Things I miss most when I think of Kyle: the times he would stop by my room to share his pure joy when receiving a precious new creature to add to his collection and the beautiful spring mornings that he would come by and share the fresh cuttings from his flower garden. Kyle will be greatly missed and the memories he left always treasured. Kyle is deeply intertwined in my fondest of childhood summer memories in Longview - early on his passion for nature and wildlife was apparent,unique and influential as we went about our summer fun with bees, butterflies, bugs, bats and squirrels! I feel blest in many ways for the opportunity to have worked with Kyle at DHS. As the school nurse, I knew of his many health struggles and saw how hard he tried to show up for work, in spite of how he was feeling. I was very sad to hear about Kyle's passing. I met him at Judson and we graduated from LHS. The thing I will always remember about him is his artistic talent. As a teacher, it is always so nice to hear how teachers have positively impacted their students. I have no doubt that he was a great teacher. Kyle was one of my first friends when I moved to Longview in 7th grade -he made me laugh in art class and beyond. We had so many classes together all through high school and he was smart and funny and kind. Thankful to have known him and for the long visit we had at the 25th reunion. From the comments of his students, he has left a wonderful legacy.I remember how he would reverse paint animals on glass and they were so lifelike - he had such a gift for capturing the spirit of an animal.
