Kerry Wayne Benefield's Obituary
Kerry Wayne Benefield, 57, passed away on January 22, 2026, surrounded by family and friends in Longview, Texas. Born on April 15, 1968, in Freeport, Illinois. His life journey carried him from the heart of the Midwest to East Texas, he graduated from Ore City High School in 1987.
Kerry was the epitome of hard work and dedication, often working long hours, two jobs at a time, and always arrived early. For more than 20 years, Kerry dedicated himself to his work at Capacity of Texas. Due to his steadfast commitment and reliability, he received Perfect Attendance Awards a testament to the pride he took in showing up each day and giving his best.
Kerry was known for his generous spirit and will to help others. He found joy in conversation and cherished the simple act of sharing meals with others. Whether telling a story or offering a helping hand, he had a way of making people feel seen and appreciated.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Desiree (Joseph) Hardee and Ashley Benefield, his grand children Joseph Hardee, Riley Moyer, Emilee Moyer, Myka Hardee, Hunter Moyer. His brother, Kevin (Amanda) Benefield, sister, Anita Benefield, nieces and nephews, Jacqueline Green, Lauren Benefield, Zachary Benefield, Graciela Benefield, Noah Benefield, and numerous family members and friends.
In 1992, Kerry met Charlotte Christie. In her, he found not only a cherished companion but also embraced her family, as his extended family that enriched his life deeply. Jean (Tracy) Dula, Tommy (Lori) Christie, Jonny Christie, Joshua (Ally) Christie, Amanda Swift, Justin Snow, Jessie Christie, Max (Destiny) Christie, and Emily Dula. He will be remembered as Grandpa or Kerry Wayne by the great-grandchildren.
When he was diagnosed with cancer, he faced that challenge with admirable strength and courage. We are profoundly grateful to the Dr, Sharma and staff at Texas Oncology for his care during his battle. The final days we appreciate the exceptional care, kindness and support that Corinna and Justin with Heartsway Hospice and Chrissy Lewis provided to Kerry.
May Kerry’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 10:30 am at Longview Church of Christ, 1401 Eden Drive, Longview, TX.
