Kent was born on January 8, 1946, in Ada, Oklahoma to Cecil and Boyce Simpkins. After high school he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and the National Guard. He worked for many years selling cars at Pegues Hurst Ford. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, camping and spending time at the deer lease. He loved serving his community and was involved in the VFW, Eagles Lodge, and was the Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge for many years. Above all else, Mr. Simpkins was a family man and loved his family dearly. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Monty Simpkins.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Katie Simpkins; his son, Bryan Simpkins and wife Tonya of Longview, daughters, Angela Folds and husband Chad of Austin, TX, Lisa Wright and husband Walt of Hallsville, TX, and Susan Mullikin of Houston, TX; sisters Arnon Styles and Yvonne Butler, and Rhonda Pettigrew; grandchildren Tim Wehunt, Chris Wehunt, Kayla Wehunt, Macy Simpkins, Austin Young, Brandon Young, and Collin Wright; 2 great grandchildren; his special cousin Savanna Hill; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
